Wi-Fi HaLow Outdoor Robotics

Keep outdoor robots connected across their movement range

For mowers, snow robots, inspection devices, and yard terminals, movement range, base-station placement, control backhaul, and weak-signal recovery are planned together.

Movement range

Covers yards, campuses, and semi-open spaces

Control backhaul

Carries control, status, and lightweight images

Battery friendly

Fits intermittent and low-power devices

Robot connectivity must follow the movement path

Outdoor robots are not fixed points. Connectivity must account for movement boundaries, obstacles, base-station position, control priority, and weak-signal recovery, or far-edge drops will affect the mission.

Solution Path

Mission control path

The robot sends status and images over HaLow, the base station connects to the home or campus network, and the controller handles mission setup and remote viewing.

Robot side

Connects controllers, sensors, cameras, or status modules.

Base link

Provides backhaul across distance and obstacles.

Mission side

Connects to app, gateway, or local controller.

Movement area

Map the work area before base station and antenna choices

The far-edge boundary changes with mower, snow, and inspection routes. Confirm maximum distance, obstacles, terrain, and base-station position before antenna direction and link margin.

  • Validate the far edge by movement boundary
  • Prioritize control data over noncritical images
  • Base-station position shapes experience

Mission backhaul

Control, status, and images need priorities

Robot links often carry control, status, sensor data, and lightweight images at the same time. The solution should protect control and status first, then tune image or video bitrate and frequency.

  • Keep the control link alive first
  • Send status and sensor data reliably
  • Configure image backhaul by mission need
