TXW8301

Wi-Fi HaLow SoC for long-range, low-power connectivity

Integrates RF, modem, MAC, and a 32-bit RISC CPU with Sub-1GHz 802.11ah, AP/STA operation, repeater, roaming, and rich host interfaces.

Product Overview

The TX-AH-Rx00Pxx series module is an IEEE 802.11ah Wi-Fi module designed by Taixin Semiconductor for IoT devices. It integrates a TXW83xx 802.11ah SoC and covers the 730MHz to 950MHz band. Compared with traditional 2.4GHz/5GHz Wi-Fi, it enables longer-range transmission under the same transmit power.

The module supports 1/2/4/8MHz channel bandwidth and a physical throughput range of 150Kbps to 32.5Mbps, making it suitable for low-rate sensors, multi-channel surveillance cameras, and similar applications. It provides USB, SDIO, SPI, UART, and RMII interfaces for wireless security, UAV video links, smart home systems, smart grid equipment, and low-cost wireless bridge designs.

For performance optimization, TX-AH-Rx00P supports CCA, CSMA/CD, automatic frequency selection, and automatic power control to improve network access and transmission efficiency. For low-power operation, STA keep-alive current can be as low as 200uA, while AP low-power mode is no more than 5mA.

For networking, the module supports relay, roaming, and multicast modes to extend coverage and adapt to different network applications. Antenna options include single-antenna and dual-antenna configurations, with automatic switching based on signal conditions.

Features

Flexible Rate And Bandwidth

TXW8301 supports 1/2/4/8MHz channel options with PHY rates from 150Kbps to 32.5Mbps, so one hardware platform can be tuned for distance, power budget, and throughput. Based on the module specification, protocol throughput can reach around TCP 15Mbps and UDP 16Mbps, enabling both narrowband telemetry reporting and wider-band payload return for images, logs, and control streams.

Long-Range Wi-Fi

Compliant with IEEE 802.11ah, TXW8301 operates in the 730MHz~950MHz Sub-1GHz band and offers stronger diffraction and penetration than conventional 2.4GHz/5GHz Wi-Fi links. Under the specification test condition of +20dBm transmit power, 2/4/8MHz configurations can reach about 1200 meters, which suits campus coverage, warehouse telemetry, industrial metering, building sensors, and long-distance data backhaul.

Rich Host Interfaces

The platform integrates USB, SDIO, SPI, RMII, UART, and I2C host interfaces for fast integration with MCUs, application processors, Ethernet PHYs, sensors, and mixed peripherals. Development teams can choose interface combinations based on pin budget, bill-of-material cost, and expected traffic profile, which reduces bridge devices, shortens board bring-up time, and keeps room for future function expansion.

Low-Power Design

TXW8301 provides low-power behavior for both STA and AP modes, balancing long battery life with always-reachable connectivity. The specification lists typical deep-sleep current around 110uA, DTIM10/20/30 around 195/160/145uA, and AP low-power mode around 5mA~10mA. Combined with sleep wake-up scheduling, narrowband transfer, and transmit power control, it is suitable for locks, meters, environmental sensors, and portable industrial nodes.

Multiple Networking Modes

AP-STA, repeater, auto-repeater, roaming, and multicast capabilities allow flexible network planning across different deployment scales and coverage constraints. A node can work as an endpoint, a relay, or a coverage extension point. The module profile supports 8 nodes by default and can be extended to 31 nodes, making it practical for distributed sensing, multi-zone bridging, building penetration, and coordinated control across large areas.

Reliable Transmission

For complex RF environments, TXW8301 combines CCA, CSMA/CD, automatic channel selection, automatic transmit power control, and WPA2-PSK/AES protection to improve link availability and data integrity. These mechanisms reduce collision risk under multi-node concurrency and help maintain stable return paths under interference and obstruction, which is important for industrial control, security monitoring, and infrastructure devices with strict uptime requirements.
